Terrace Suite

Beyond the Arid House, home to our cacti collection, lies the Terrace Suite. Once the ballroom for the Gardens, the space has retained all of the charm and grace bestowed by its former life. With traditional decoration, a sprung dance floor and original domed ceiling, it lends itself beautifully to dining or drinks receptions for up to 170 or 350 guests respectively.

With its own lounge area with a built in bar, as well as a stage and dressing room and in-built PA system, this airy and spacious venue lends itself wonderfully to a variety of events, both private and corporate.

Garden Suite

The Garden Suite is approached through the magnificent Tropical House and Mediterranean Terrace House, and is the ideal choice for larger social functions, accommodating up to 500 guests. The generous space and beautiful setting make it an ideal choice for awards ceremonies and exhibitions.

The stage area, complete with private dressing room, is a real boon for all types of entertainment or for high level conferences, and the Suite also has its own special bar area, the Palm Lounge. Originally built as a glasshouse, this space is ideal for pre-lunch/dinner drinks, or as a post event bar or registration area for professional events.

The versatile space can be divided into sections, giving a myriad of options for your event, for instance allowing the addition of breakout or catering spaces.

The Garden Suite was originally the Gardens’ nursery glasshouses, where plants were propagated and nurtured ready to be placed on display in the show houses. These buildings were converted to their current use as an arresting event space in 1987 and the Garden Suite was officially inaugurated by HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on 30 April 1988.

Loudon Suite

Absorb panoramic views across the Gardens from our elegant Victorian dining room, which can accommodate up to 60 guests. Natural daylight, charming furniture and calming neutral decoration instil feelings of tranquillity and warmth, whilst the veranda and conservatory, which adjoin the space and overlook the Japanese Gardens, add a wonderful option for pre-dinner entertaining.

The space is just perfect for an intimate wedding or reception, or for a number of corporate events and functions. Weddings benefit from the conservatory, the perfect place for your drinks reception before you move to the Cedar Room for your wedding breakfast, while corporate venue hire benefits from a separate meeting room and catering space – adjacent and interlinked.

The Loudon Suite was our original tea pavilion, built in 1909 for the refreshment of visitors to the Gardens. In 1990, the original building was remodelled in a Victorian style sympathetic to the original and surrounding buildings. The Loudon Suite now includes an exquisite conservatory and private dining room and the Pavilion Tearoom provides modern catering facilities for visitors.
